My photography focuses on issues relating to women's rights, gender equality, and freedom of speech, especially in the Middle East, which is my cultural heritage. I am heavily influenced by the experiences of my mother, who at age 16 was forced to leave Turkey with her older sister for Germany after the death of my grandmother. She left her village which is surrounded by beautiful, tall trees and valleys studded with dried fields; shades of yellow, brown, combined with a few tiny green areas; where the air smells like wild flowers and fresh herbs.
I am a German-born Turkish photographer (b.1987 in Hanover, German) who attended the photojournalism I program at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark and studied at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover. Diploma of Advanced Visual Storytelling, Danish School of Media and Journalism, Aarhus (2016).
